Wanting to move to a warmer climate, Kimberly applied and was accepted to begin her teaching career in Katy, Texas. From 1995 until 1997 she attended the University of Houston, Clear Lake and completed her Masters in Elementary Education and Training.
From 1994 until 2013, Kim was married to Mark Sweet. In late 2014, Kimberly met her current husband, Jeff Hastings on the dating website, match.com. The two currently reside in Cypress, Texas and together, they have six children: Kristin ({{age|1990|07|10}}), Avery ({{age|1995|05|07}}), Alexandria ({{age|1998|12|14}}), Maxwell ({{age|2000|07|24}}), Andersen ({{age|2006|05|03}}), and Logan ({{age|2010|02|14}}).

==Professional Life==
A Cypress, Texas resident since 1999, Kimberly retired as a Librarian in the Cy-Fair school district to pursue her dream of owning a small business. After careful research and support from her family, she decided that owning an insurance and financial services agency is exactly what she had been looking for.
