At age four, Tom recorded himself on [[audio cassette]] tapes singing Michael Jackson's "[[Bad (Michael Jackson song)|Bad]]."<ref name="Honolulu Weekly" /> He combined [[scat singing]] with an urban beatboxing technique known as an inward K snare drum.
