Trulia's founders [[Pete Flint]] and Sami Inkinen met at [[Stanford Graduate School of Business]]. In 2004, while looking for off-campus housing amidst studying for his MBA, Flint was surprised to discover that the local real estate information available online was often insufficient, out of date or both.<ref>{{cite news|last=Carey|first=Pete|title=Mercury News interview: Trulia CEO Peter Flint|url=http://www.mercurynews.com/business/ci_21811772/mercury-news-interview-trulia-ceo-peter-flint|accessdate=14 November 2012|newspaper=Mercury News|date=12 October 2012}}</ref> Flint and Inkinen took this opportunity to simplify the process of finding a new home through technology.<ref>{{cite news|title=Meet the Boss: Sami Inkinen, COO, Trulia|url=http://www.sfgate.com/business/meettheboss/article/Meet-the-Boss-Sami-Inkinen-COO-Trulia-3176725.php|accessdate=13 November 2012|newspaper=SFGate|date=2010-08-29}}</ref> Flint was the CEO and Chairman from inception to acquisition.
